Purple has always been the hardest Elite to find and the one people write to us about. It is the same upgraded frame as the rest — contoured seat, scuff-free wheel protectors, aluminum construction, forty-four pound rider limit — in a finish that has never been produced in the same volumes as the blue or green.
As a first machine it does everything the line is known for. A nine-month-old pushes it, a fifteen-month-old sits on it, a two-year-old turns it round and rides it, and none of those three stages requires a single word of instruction from an adult. The handle loop is at the right height for all three, which is the piece of design that makes the sequence work.
It is a toy that gets ridden daily for two years and then gets handed to a cousin, and the frame generally arrives in better condition than anyone expects.
